Pop-up Widget: Timed Lead Capture on Your Website
Catch visitors with a branded pop-up form before they bounce.
The Pop-up Widget is an Alivo Capture tool that shows a lead capture form in a pop-up window on your website. It is a good way to grab attention from visitors who might otherwise leave without filling out your main contact form. This guide covers what the pop-up does, how to install it, and what happens after someone submits.
What the Pop-up Widget Does
After you add the embed code, Alivo loads a pop-up on your site that shows a branded lead capture form. By default it appears after about 10 seconds on the page. When a visitor fills it out and submits:
- A lead is created in Alivo with their contact info.
- The lead source is tagged so you can track pop-up performance separately.
- Your linked agent sends the start text for instant follow-up (when the agent is Active).
- UTM and ad tracking parameters from the page URL are saved with the lead when present.
The form inside the pop-up works like Alivo's standard website capture form. It is not a booking calendar. For scheduling with abandonment follow-up, use the Booking Widget or a booking landing page link instead.
How to Set Up the Pop-up Widget
1. Create the Lead Source
Go to Settings → Integrations → Lead Sources and add a Pop-up Widget (Alivo Capture). Name it and select the agent that should handle these leads.
2. Customize Colors and Visibility
In the widget settings you can set:
- Primary and secondary colors to match your brand.
- Widget Visible to turn the pop-up on or off without removing the code.
The pop-up stays hidden until an agent is linked, same as the other website widgets.
3. Add the Embed Code
Copy the embed code from the lead source settings and paste it before the closing </body> tag on your site. One script handles the pop-up on every page where it is installed.
Keep in mind: Pop-ups work best when the offer is clear. A simple headline like "Get a free roof inspection" with a short form converts better than a long questionnaire.
What Happens After Submit
- Visitor fills out the pop-up form and checks the opt-in box.
- Alivo creates the lead and starts a conversation with your agent.
- The agent texts them using the start text you configured.
- Follow-ups continue if they do not reply or book.
Unlike booking pages, there is no separate "did not book" reminder step. The agent's normal text follow-up sequence handles re-engagement from there.
Pop-up Widget vs. Other Alivo Capture Tools
- Website Forms captures your existing forms in the background. The Pop-up Widget actively asks for the lead.
- Chat Widget starts a text conversation through a chat-style button. The Pop-up Widget shows a full form in a window.
- Booking Widget collects info and sends the visitor to a calendar. The Pop-up Widget is for general lead capture only.
The Pop-up Widget is a simple way to turn passive website traffic into conversations. Install it on high-traffic pages like your homepage or service pages, link it to an Active agent, and let the follow-up run automatically.
