Booking Widget: Schedule Inspections From Your Website
A slide-out booking tab that follows up by text when someone does not finish scheduling.
The Booking Widget is an Alivo Capture tool that lets website visitors book an inspection without calling your office. It shows as a slide-out tab on your site, collects their contact info, and sends them to your scheduling calendar. If they fill out the form but never pick a time, Alivo follows up with a reminder text automatically. This guide walks through the full flow, including that abandonment follow-up.
What the Booking Widget Does
The Booking Widget adds a slide-out tab (usually on the side of the screen) that opens a short booking form. When a visitor submits:
- Alivo creates a lead with their name, phone, email, and any address fields you collect.
- The visitor is redirected to your booking calendar so they can pick a time.
- A timer starts. If they do not complete a booking within the wait period, Alivo sends a reminder text.
- Your agent's follow-up sequence can continue after the reminder if they still do not book.
The Booking Flow Step by Step
Step 1: Visitor Fills Out the Form
The visitor clicks the slide-out tab, enters their contact info, and agrees to receive texts. This creates the lead in Alivo even if they never finish scheduling.
Step 2: Redirect to the Calendar
Alivo sends them to your scheduling page (your agent's call-to-action link or Alivo's built-in calendar, depending on how your agent is set up). They pick a date and time like any normal online booking.
Step 3: Abandonment Follow-Up
Here is the part that saves leads other tools lose. If the visitor submitted the form but did not finish booking, Alivo waits and then texts them a reminder. By default that wait is 5 minutes. The default reminder says something like: "I saw you didn't book with us. Can I answer any questions?" and includes a calendar link.
You control both settings on the agent:
- Booking Form Wait Duration — how long Alivo waits before sending the reminder (default: 5 minutes).
- Booking Form Nudge Text — the reminder message. Use [FIRST_NAME] for their name and [CTA_LINK] for the calendar link.
Good to know: The booking abandonment follow-up only runs when your agent has a valid Alivo scheduling link set up. Make sure your agent's call-to-action link points to your Alivo calendar or booking page.
How to Set Up the Booking Widget
1. Set Up Your Agent for Booking
Before adding the widget, confirm your agent is configured for scheduling. The agent should be Active, have a call-to-action link pointing to your calendar, and have your booking form nudge text written the way you want it.
2. Create the Lead Source
Go to Settings → Integrations → Lead Sources (or Marketing → Lead Capture) and add a Booking Widget. Name it, link your booking agent, and customize the primary and secondary colors.
3. Add the Embed Code
Copy the embed code and paste it before the closing </body> tag on your website. The slide-out tab appears on every page where the script is installed.
What Happens in Each Scenario
- They book right away. The appointment is created and the conversation is tied to that booking. No abandonment reminder is needed.
- They fill out the form but leave the calendar. After the wait duration, they get the booking reminder text with your calendar link.
- They ignore the reminder. Your agent's normal follow-up sequence keeps trying on a schedule you set.
This is one of the biggest advantages of Alivo's booking tools over a plain calendar embed. A normal calendar widget creates nothing if the visitor bounces. Alivo already has their phone number and a live text thread ready to go.
When to Use the Booking Widget
Use the Booking Widget on your main website when you want scheduling front and center. It works well on homepages, service pages, and landing pages you host yourself. If you need a shareable link instead of an on-site widget (for ads or email), use a booking landing page link from the Landing Pages lead source. The abandonment follow-up works the same way.
The Booking Widget turns "I was thinking about it" into a booked inspection, because Alivo does not let form abandonment be the end of the story.
